Holding the Cine-Research Program at the University of Tabriz

Given the importance of promoting a research-oriented culture and enhancing the scientific–cultural atmosphere at the university, the Vice-Presidency for Research and Technology, in collaboration with the Vice-Presidency for Cultural and Social Affairs of the University of Tabriz, has launched a program entitled “Cinema-Research at the University of Tabriz.”

The main idea behind this program is to hold regular sessions in which a scientific or research-related film (including documentaries, science-themed feature films, or works inspiring technological and innovative thinking) is screened. After the film, a review and discussion session is held with the participation of experts from relevant fields, providing an opportunity for dialogue, critical exchange of ideas, and inspiration for students and researchers.

The main objectives of the program are:

1. Creating a bridge between science and art and conveying scientific concepts through an engaging and influential medium

2. Fostering a spirit of inquiry, creativity, and research among students

3. Providing an informal yet academic space for interaction between professors and students

4. Introducing scientific achievements, history, and global scientific challenges through cinematic narratives

In the first episode of the “Cinema-Research” series, the film Interstellar, one of Christopher Nolan’s masterpieces, was screened. Following the screening, Dr. Mohammadzadeh Jasour led an in-depth critique, analysis, and exploration of the scientific concepts presented in this timeless work.
