University of Tabriz Ranked Among Top 180 Asian Universities in the 2026 Times Higher Education Rankings

University of Tabriz Achieves Rank 180 in Asia in the Latest 2026 Times Higher Education Asian University Rankings and Secures Second Place Among Iran’s Comprehensive Universities

According to the Public Relations Office of University of Tabriz, Prof. Asghar Asgari, Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology of the university, announced that based on the latest report of the 2026 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings, the university successfully achieved the 180th position among Asian universities. This accomplishment places University of Tabriz second among Iran’s comprehensive universities under the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

He stated that in this ranking, which includes 1,405 Asian universities, University of Tabriz secured the 180th rank in Asia and the 11th position among Iranian universities.

The Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology further added that the university ranked second among the country’s leading comprehensive universities, following University of Tehran.

He also noted that 90 Iranian universities were included in the 2026 Times Higher Education Asian University Rankings. Sharif University of Technology, ranked 76th, was recognized as the top university in Iran in this ranking system. Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and University of Tehran were also listed among the top five universities in Iran.

It is worth mentioning that University of Tabriz began its activities in 1947 with the establishment of the Faculties of Literature and Medicine. Today, with 20 faculties, several research institutes and research groups, scientific centers of excellence, around 800 faculty members, and more than 24,000 students, it is recognized as one of Iran’s leading international top-tier universities.
